How does a payment ring work?
The ring contains an NFC chip linked to your Visa or Mastercard. You hold your hand to the card terminal and the chip transmits an encrypted payment token. The process is identical to contactless card payment, except you don't have to take anything out of your pocket.
Is a payment ring secure?
Yes. Your real card details never leave the ring. Only an encrypted token is transmitted, issued individually for each ring. If the ring is lost, it can be deactivated without replacing your card. The range is only a few centimetres.
Which banks work with the PAGO?
Every Visa and Mastercard is compatible with the PAGO. Many cards work directly, including Revolut and Klarna. If your card is not directly supported, you connect the PAGO to almost any Visa or Mastercard via the free Curve app.
Up to what amount can I pay without a PIN?
As with any contactless payment, you pay smaller amounts without a PIN. Above a country-specific limit (around €50 in many countries), the terminal asks for the PIN of your linked card for security.
Do I need to charge the ring?
No. The NFC chip works passively and draws its energy from the terminal at the moment of payment. There is no battery and nothing to charge.
Is the ring waterproof?
Yes. PAGO rings are made of scratch-resistant ceramic or robust metal and are water- and dust-resistant. You can wear them for sport, swimming and everyday life.
How do I find my ring size?
The safest way is our sizing template: order the PAGO including the template, measure your size at home and then order your ring free of charge in the right size. All details on the ring size page.
Do I need my smartphone to pay?
No. You only need the smartphone once for setup. After that you pay entirely without your phone, the ring works on its own at every card terminal.
